The Live Safe division of Ultrasound Services, Inc. (USI) was founded with the mission of saving lives. At USI we realize that the way to achieve that mission is to offer a comprehensive screening that is affordable and high quality so that it is effective and accessible to the general public. With our extensive experience and demonstrated commitment to excellence we developed the Live Safe screening, a comprehensive, affordable and quality screening solution.
Our screening program began with the Play Safe division of USI, screening young athletes for risk factors for exercise-induced Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Not long after first offering Play Safe screenings, we began the Live Safe division, offering heart, vascular and general disease screenings to at risk individuals. These screenings utilize ultrasound to detect:
- HEART
- Abnormalities in the Heart
- VASCULAR
- Abnormalities in the Carotid Arteries - which may indicate increased risk of stroke
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm - an abnormal ballooning of the abdominal aortic artery which could rupture
- Peripheral Arterial Disease - restrictions in the leg's arterial system which may relate to heart problems or diabetes
- GENERAL - examines the following organs for cancer and disease that may be symptomless at early disease stages.
- thyroid
- liver
- kidneys
- gallbladder
- common bile duct
- pancreas
Screening at this non-symptomatic stage may result in early detection of incipient diseases. In developing each of these aspects of the Live Safe program, USI is now able to offer a uniquely thorough and high quality assessment of an individual's total health.
With more than 20 years of experience providing mobile diagnostic ultrasound to physician offices, nursing homes and prisons, USI is in a uniquely qualified position to offer these screening services. Our equipment is completely mobile, which means we are easily able to provide screenings on location at businesses, schools or wherever there is a need. Our sonographers are all registered or certified to provide diagnostic ultrasound and have received thorough training in the screening protocols. The protocols themselves were designed by USI's Chief Technical Officer with approvals by leading cardiologists at Temple University Hospital. The accreditations held by USI in general, vascular, vascular screening and cardiac ultrasound attest to the quality services USI is able to provide.
